Creative industries publishing industry: innovative development and contribution to the national economy

The article is devoted to the study of the publishing industry in the context of studying the ways of innovative development of the economy and culture of the Russian Federation. The publishing industry is considered in the article as a synergetic activity that unites various spheres of society: culture, economics, science, creative industries, intellectual property and copyright, and contributes to each of them. Considerable attention is paid to the publishing activities of scientific and educational organizations of the country that disseminate the knowledge obtained on the principles of “open science” - the principles under which people can freely use and distribute scientific knowledge without legal, technological or social restrictions, as well as the model of knowledge dissemination on the principle of open Access, providing free operational access to scientific publications in electronic form. Special attention is paid to the study of the contribution of electronic book publishing to the book publishing sector of the economy; the disproportions of official statistics in the assessment of its share in the overall indicators of the industry are revealed. The article proposes legislative initiatives aimed at improving the publishing industry of creative industries.
