Metal artifacts from the burial grounds of Afanasievo culture

Бесплатный доступ

The article is devoted to studying of metalwares of the Afanasyevo culture which were found in the 17 % of Afanasyevo burials in Mountain Altai and in the 8 % of burials on Yenisei. The structure of things is rather unvaried - jewelry(earrings and bracelets made of beads), household items (bindings, staples, tacks, knives and awls) and indefinable subjects (plates, oxidized artifacts). Earrings are typical for the both territories, knives were revealed in Mountain Altai, while staples and bindings can be found on Yenisei more often. Axes were not found in the Afanasyevo burials; therefore casual finds of axes, especially in the areas where no Afanasyevo monuments were revealed, cannot serve as a convincing proof of an origin of the Afanasyevo culture from the Yamna culture.
