The research aims is to find factors influenced the expansion of foreign seeds in the domestic rapeseed market. Methods include economic-statistical, abstract-logical, graphical, expert ratings, regression ones. Materials of the State statistics, the National Registers, Ministry of Agriculture, and USDA too, are used. Due to national processing capacity growth till more than 16 million t, oilseeds acreage increased correspondingly from 4 m ha in 1990 till 12.3 m ha in 2016. While spring rapeseed acreage increased fivefold, winter rapeseed did fourfold. Farmers often prefer to cultivate oilseeds and, in particular, rapeseed due to cereal margin reduction. All-Russian Institute of rapeseed, National Institute of oilseed crops and Fodder Institute are local leaders of rapeseed market. Local rapeseed varieties grown up from 48 in 2011 till 69 ones in 2017 (+44%), and foreign ones did from 89 to 163 (+83%) ones for the last six years. Foreign seed companies promote hybrids due to their efficient return of investment into the breeding programs. Nowadays foreign seed share is about 56% of spring rapeseed, and 76% winter one acreage; they are mainly from Germany (NPZ, Bayer, DSV, etc.), USA (Monsanto, Pioneer) and France (Euralis). Innovative solutions are developing, i.a. Clearfield and Express production systems (systemic herbicides application in combination with resistant to them hybrids), improved fatty acid composition, and yellow color of seeds, etc.
