Images of the groups of saints in the Cappadocian churches in time of Macedonian dynasty

The purpose of this article is to find out how and when in the Byzantine mural painting there was formed the tradition to depict the saints in a particular place of the church space according to ranks or thematically selected groups. By examples of Cappadocian churches there is undertaken attempt to reconstruct the common Byzantine tradition of depicting the groups of saints which endured its refraction in different regional cultures.
