The article considers views on the issue of value orientations of a person from the perspective of philosophy, foreign and domestic psychological schools. Peculiarities of value orientations studies with the help of existing diagnostics instruments are described. The authors indicate the relevance of the metaphor as a way of studying systems of value orientations of an individual.
