Study of soil degradation in the Aral Sea based on the classification of satellite images

Бесплатный доступ

According to the results of controlled and uncontrolled classifications of multispectral satellite images (Landsat 7-8), the latter were divided into several areal halos according to soil types. A soil salinity map was drawn for the Aral Sea region. At present, the drainage zone of the Big Aral Sea reaches from 1-2 km along the chink and the western coast of the Western reservoir to more than one hundred fifty to two hundred kilometers from the southern coast. The exposed bottom sediments are deposits of marine, river and mixed genesis. On these exposed soils, the process of soil formation is going on, which is fundamentally different from the zonal processes in its specific features. Moreover, it is precisely these features that allow the soil cover of the drained part of the bottom of the Aral Sea to go through a secular development cycle in a short period of time.
