Investigation of diuretic activity of thick extract of the urtica dioica L.rhizomes

Urticadioica is one of the famous and popular medicinal plants in our country and abroad. In Russia the nettle leaves are used as hemostatic phytofarmaceuticals. At the same time, rhizomes and roots of stingingnettle are used abroad as a source for producing effective drugs for treatment such disease as adenoma of prostate gland. The absence of normative documents on the nettle rhizome and roots acts as a brake in the process ofcreation of domestic import-substituting drugs.Development of technical documentation on rhizomes and roots of stingingnettle is necessary for developmentof domestic products with antitumor activity.The main purpose was to study the diuretic activity of thick extract of the rhizomes and roots of stingingnettle.We produced the thick extract of rhizomes and roots of nettle by using 96% ethanol. The study of diuretic activity of obtained drug was performed on white outbred male mice. Investigated product was injected intragastrically by stomach tube at a dose of 10 mg/kg affected by the water test in the amount of 3% of body weight of the animal. The study revealed diuresis, natriuresis, kaliuresis and kreatininuresis for 4 h and 24 h of the experiment. As a result, it was discovered that the thick extract of rhizomes and roots of nettle in a dose of 10 mg/kg for 24 hours of experiment moderately stimulates diuresis and saluresis.
