Study of Professional and Career Preferences of Students of Higher Educational Institutions Specializing in Customs

The relevance of conducting research focused on the study of professional and career preferences of students is substantiated. The purpose of the study is to identify eff ective measures for the formation of a sustained interest in the chosen professional activity among students of the specialty “Customs business”. The students’ ideas about customs business and the image of a customs offi cial at the stage of admission to the university and at the 4th year are revealed. The number of graduates planning to fi nd a job in their fi eld after graduation, the reasons for choosing a university and specialty have been determined. Based on the results of monitoring the dynamics of professional and career preferences among students, conclusions were drawn: from the 1st to the 4th year, students retained a stable positive attitude towards representatives of their chosen profession; great importance is attached to the opportunity to work for the benefi t of the state; less than 50% of respondents express willingness to work in their specialty.
