Study of target text reception as a research approach in translatology (through the example of film translation)

As is known, translation of a foreign piece of work belongs to a complicated and multi-aspect pro­cess of intercultural communication, which involves numerous factors. Reaction of wide audience is of the greatest interest here. It is known that text only acquires its full meaning in the context of reception, i.e. when it is understood and evaluated by the target audience, which gives the clearest understanding of interpretation of a foreign culture heritage in a recipient culture. This aspect is particularly vital for studying translation of foreign cinema works into the Russian language: as is known, percentage of translated films in repertoire of Russian cinemas is rather considerable. The research is based on translations of «Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis» (Welcome to the Land of Shtis) (2008) - a French film, which touched feelings of Russian audience. Results of the research allow us to look at the most pressing problems of film translation through recipients' eyes.
