The paper presents the results of an empirical study of self-esteem of individuals who have officially changed their names and those who are going to do that in the future. The data are obtained while using a technique called «Who am I?» which is a modification of an American «The Twenty Statements Test» that is based on incomplete sentences methodology. It is found that respondents in both groups are characterized with a high to an inadequately high level of self-esteem and those who have already changed their names show statistically higher scores.
