The study of the speed of mental processes in medical students of different age group, depending on the level of their personal and situational anxiety

The article presents the result of a study aimed at identifying the dependence of the speed of mental processes in medical students of different age group, depending on the level of their personal and situational anxiety. The study involved students of the 1st year of the N.N. Burdenco Higher State Medical University in the number of 109 people. The study was conducted using the Spielberger-Khanin anxiety scale, the G. Eysenck thinking assessment questionnaire and the methodology for assessing the speed of thinking by T.A. Ratanov and N.F. Shlyakh. The result of the study showed that the level of situational anxiety is increased in 1st - year students, and vice versa, personal anxiety is more typical for 3-4 year students. At the same time, indicator of the test of figurative-logical thinking and the speed of thought processes are higher in 1st year students, which is explained by the mobilization of the body's defenses in the phase of anxiety in Selye and increased activation of thought processes.
