The article views historic and pedagogic analysis of creative work of a teacher of Russian gymnasium of the XIX - beginning of the XX centuries from methodological position of post-classical rationality. It is proved that during the reviewed period it is possible to trace the following tendency: the more educated a teacher is, the more sides his creative work is. It proves the dependency between creative and educational activities of a gymnasium teacher and the level of his participation in mental formation of his pupils.
