Optimal conditions for heavy metal ion accumulation by Rhodococcus ruber IEGM 231 based on physico-chemical (initial metal ion concentration, temperature, active acidity range, source of carbon and energy) and biological (growth stage and initial Rhodococcus cell concentration) factors were determined. Those conditions enabled up to 95% extraction of heavy metal ions from the cultural medium.
