Yakut-Russian bilingualism among students of Yakutsk

The article is devoted to the study of Yakut-Russian bilingualism among students of the city of Yakutsk. A sociological study was conducted, within the framework of which the method of collecting primary information by means of an online survey on the Google Forms platform was implemented. The analysis of the data obtained showed that the student youth of Yakutia is bilingual, regardless of the situation, its representatives can speak both Russian and Yakut. It is also revealed that in modern conditions bilinguals are more competitive and in demand in the labor market. It is concluded that bilingualism has more advantages than disadvantages, that awareness of it as an ethnic culture contributes to the preservation and development of the native language of individuals. The results of the study can be used for further research of Yakut-Russian bilingualism and the problems of the language situation in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
