Shortly before the Battle of Kulikovo, the Moscow candidate for metropolitan received from Tyulyak, the puppet Khan of Mamai, a jarlig confirming the tax immunity of the Russian Church. The paper attempts to analyze the content of this document, the circumstances of its appearance and its significance. The text of the act is considered among other Golden Horde jarligs to Russian metropolitans known to us. The circumstances of obtaining the jarlig are analyzed from the point of view of the events in the history of the Russian Church during the reign of Dmitry Ivanovich. Much attention is paid to the historiography of the problem. It is concluded that the nominated metropolitan was not involved in the compilation of a short edition of the collection of labels or its original basis. The policy of the Golden Horde rulers towards the Orthodox clergy was not unchanged, which means that Mamai had the opportunity to cut the benefits provided to the Church, but for certain reasons he did not. In the face of the new Metropolitan, Mamai, not without reason, could see the successor of the active political line of St. Alexei, a representative of Moscow interests.
