The review examines the collective monograph celebrating the 80th birthday of the eminent Hungarian slavist Arpad Kovács. The paper focuses on theoretical, philosophical and literary issues that are related to his scientific heritage. The review is divided into five thematic blocks, each of which is devoted to a particular topic that falls within Kovács’s range of academic interests, including the study of Russian and world literature, poetics and narratology, as well as interdisciplinary studies encompassing philosophy, theology and ethics. The special emphasis of the monograph is placed on the role of language in literature. Thus, the review not only appreciates the substantive and scholarly value of the volume, but also demonstrates the significance of Kovács’s academic legacy for contemporary research.
