The linguistic situation of Perm krai: specific features of Russian spontaneous speech and methods of investigation

Бесплатный доступ

The present article is concerned with particularities of the Perm Krai linguistic situation and the methods that are acceptable for language research in that kind of situations. Since Russians' penetration of the Ural the linguistic situation of the Perm Krai had been developing under both interlingual and intralingual interference conditions. Such conditions determined the originality of language functioning in the area. At present Russian oral speech in the Perm Krai is represented by a number of language variants (existential forms of Russian), and the Russian speech of bilinguals, who live in the krai (first of all Tatars and Komi-Permyaks). Different types of oral speech interact with each other and create speech continuum. The characteristics of this regiolect speech continuum are not well understood today. The systematic study of the most important components of the Perm Krai linguistic situation – the oral spontaneous speech of different social groups of Russians and bilinguals – needs for a complete description.
