Language tools of constructing the ideal world: on the materials of the M.E. Saltykhov-Schedrin's ideographic dictionary of occasionalisms

Бесплатный доступ

Based on the materials of M. E. Saltykhov-Schedrin’s ideographic dictionary of occasionalisms, the article gives the linguistic description of one of the properties characterizing the writer’s philosophic-aesthetical system – the ideal world (hidden reality). The authors identify the language tools employed in latter’s construction, among which there are such means as the presence of ideographic lacunae and quantitatively different composition of various groups becoming evident if one compares the lexicographic fixation of the ideal world, on the one hand, and the real world, on the other; the use of prefixes in the creation of the negative form of logical propositions, as well as the use of composition in constructing oxymorons and antitheses on the basis of antonymous semantics if compound words’ components.
