The effectiveness of civilizational discourse in shaping the image of the future of modern youth

The author determines that the values of modern Russian youth are of a dual, hybrid nature, combining tradition and modernity. The effectiveness of competing discourses in shaping the image of the future is determined by the scale and depth of the discursive preferences of peer reference groups in online and offline communications. The effectiveness of the translation of civilizational discourse in the framework of the training course «Fundamentals of Russian Statehood» depends on the amount of intersection (congruence) of a subsets of the values of the textbook and of the values of youth. The value basis of the image of the future textbook is presented as traditional, conservative, civilizational, sovereign, religious, patriotic, anti-Western ones. It highlights the virtues of the historical past of the Russian Empire. Civilizational discourse addresses to a lesser extent the modernist block of traditional values, such as life, human rights and freedoms, humanism. The effectiveness of civilizational discourse in shaping the image of the future can be enhanced by integrating the dominant values of youth into attractive medium-term/long-term narratives and images based on a hybrid combination of elements of modernity and tradition.
