Chemoradiotherapy efficacy for patients with stage IIIa non-small cell lung cancer

Efficacy of chemoradiotherapy was assessed in 34 patients with stage IIIA central non-small cell lung cancer. The patients received conformal radiation therapy (3D-CRT) in combination with weekly chemotherapy with Gemcitabine 300 mg/m2 + Cisplatin 50 mg/m2. The objective response rate was 70,6 ± 7,8 %, stable disease rate was 23,5 ± 7,3 % and subjective response rate was 91,2 ± 4,9 %. The most common adverse events with this chemotherapy regimen were esophagitis, nausea, vomiting, hematological toxicity and peripheral neuropathy.
