Efficiency of using natural gas as fuel for automotive diesel engines

Бесплатный доступ

The conversion of diesel engines to natural gas methane is marked by a reduction in fuel costs, an improvement in environmental performance and does not require significant structural changes to the engine. The combustion process during the operation of a diesel engine is carried out by zonal injection of diesel fuel. In the kinetic calculation of the obtained products, the question of the action of water vapor is considered, taking into account the interaction of emerging water vapors under the action of high temperatures. Analyzing the results of the study on the efficiency of the use of alternative fuels, it is possible to formulate a conclusion about increasing the combustion rate by the load and speed characteristics of the engine, and at the same time adjusts the fuel delivery angle during the combustion process. When working on the load characteristic, the coefficient of excess air and the supply of air to the combustible fuel changes, which changes the period of delay of ignition, combustion intensity in the first and second phases of combustion. The use of methane during the transition to hydrogen fuel helps to reduce hydrocarbon emissions with exhaust gases by about 2.5-5 times, depending on the operating modes.
