Productivity efficiency of the livestock products: assessment, growth factors

Livestock is an industry that requires everyday work, provides constant employment for agricultural workers and makes it possible to receive cash flows from sales of products during the entire production cycle. Economic instability and the imposed sanctions of foreign countries make it necessary to conduct monitoring, diagnostic evaluation of the efficiency of the livestock industry in the context of modern production conditions, economic factors and development trends. Comparison of actual production volumes with scientifically-based rational norms of food supply per capita showed that the level of production of basic foodstuffs is insufficient. Moreover, with a significant increase in the share of own production in the general resources of meat and meat products, the estimated per capita consumption of this type of product has decreased. The article presented by the authors assesses the trends in the livestock industry in the Orel region and its structural changes. The attention is focused on the absence of effective measures to protect the domestic food market from the competition of imported products. The influence of the composition and structure of production costs on the productivity of the dairy herd on pricing, financial results and profitability in the agricultural organizations of the region is considered. The directions of increasing the competitiveness of the dairy industry in the framework of the concept of agricultural development are determined. The theoretical and practical significance of the research results is that they can serve as a basis for the further development of the methodology for evaluating the monitoring of the functioning of livestock industries, including dairy cattle breeding in the format of studying the system of indicators, individual coefficients, as well as factors affecting the increase in the efficiency of agricultural production.
