The efficiency of different methods of determination of the genetic purity of the seed lots of selfpollinated lines and hybrids of the f1 generation of sunflower

The evaluation of genetic purity of 138 seed lots of parental forms and hybrids of the F1 generation of sunflower of VNIIMK's breeding was conducted. For this purpose there were used the methods of field and greenhouse control, analysis of isoenzymes' spectrum and evaluation of resistance to the race 330 of downy mildew pathogen. The high efficiency of the laboratory method, the analysis of isoenzymes' spectrum, in determination of the genetic purity of seed lots of self-pollinated lines is shown. The level of hybridity in simple hybrids can also be adequately estimated by using the method of evaluation of resistance to a particular race (330) of downy mildew pathogen. The analysis of genetic purity of the seed lots of three-way hybrids by means of evaluation of resistance to downy mildew can only be used as a supplement to the field control. The high comparability of evaluation results of sterile female forms in terms of “sterility fixation” by means of greenhouse and field control was determined.
