The article is addressed to a wide range of specialists involved in the upbringing and socialization of adolescents and students. The aim of the study is to analyze the pecularities of the attitude of this group of society to egoism and its manifestations. The tasks consist in a comparative analysis of a large empirical database and interpretation of the results from the patristic positions, and the development of practical recommendations. The secularization of society leads to a change in the polarities in the hierarchy of values, bringing deficiency needs to the fore. This affects the spread of consumerism and selfish inclinations. In this regard, the volitional act is particularly relevant, allowing, on the basis of a conscious, free choice, to proceed to self-restraint. The indispensability of reliance on the Orthodox tradition in the family, in educational institutions and in the life of society is emphasized. A list of patristic and modern theological literature, necessary for specialists to form a strategy of successful socialization, is given.
