Statement of the problem. The appeal of modern writers to certain techniques of autobiography outside of documentary fiction has become commonplace today. Thus, artists of words emphasize the factuality of the plot of works, offer the reader to observe the historical context in which the fates of literary heroes unfold. One such author is Ludmila Ulitskaya, who uses markers of real time and space in the construction of fiction texts. The aim of the study is to analyze the techniques of autobiography, which are found in the fiction of Ludmila Ulitskaya, and to find out what role they play in understanding the ideological basis of the writer’s works. The research methods include cultural-historical, comparative and structural-typological analysis of texts. Research result. Based on the revealed complex of techniques for structuring the fiction text, the author of the article shows that the principles of autobiography are vividly manifested in the writer’s work. By reducing the distance between the biographical author and the images of the story, the perception of personality and history changes. The human being, his inner world, his feelings connected with the surrounding reality, which appears as authentically depicted, are put in the foreground. In the prose of the writer, autobiographical motifs serve for fixing and analyzing not so much the pages of own life, but the turning points in destinies of whole generations of Russian society.
