Ekphrasis and illustration in the book "Windows" by Dina Rubina and Boris Karafelov

Бесплатный доступ

Multilayer interaction between literature and painting in the book Windows (2012) by Dina Rubina and Boris Karafelov is researched in the article. On the one hand the whole text is presented as ekphrasis of the painter's pictures. On the other hand verbalization of visual impressions reverses the creation of pictures: from draws, water-colours, daguerreotypes to famous pictures of the old masters (Veronese, Titian, Brullov, Matisse and others). The suite of windows, masks, doubles and reflections connects the text with the illustrations. Painted in different time and places the pictures-illustrations do not limit the text but extend it, for example, in the story Snow in Venice.
