Environmental history and its role in achieving sustainable development

This article discusses some issues on environmental history. The paper notes that for the purpose of sustainable development as envisioned by humanity in the next 15 years, nature conservation and wise use of natural resources is of particular importance. Sustainable development of society depends largely on the moral education of the people. In this regard, the study of history allows you to be acquainted with the problems associated with the interconnection and interdependence of nature, society and economy. It was analyzed the value of historical knowledge in achieving sustainable development. Now, when it comes to matters of environmental protection, the rational use of land and water resources, adaptation to rapid climate change, which is a global environmental problem, we cannot ignore the centuries-old experience of the peoples. The article notes that the study of historical and ethnographic sources shows that the main water reserves were formed due to the collection of melt and rainwater conservation and its efficient use. In the process of the work was obtained the information that the tradition of respect for nature also has an ancient history, like the history of humanity itself. Priceless is respect for nature, deeply rooted in spirituality and culture and holds a special place in perfection of the people’s values over the centuries.
