Ecological modernization as a component of the strategic development of regions and enterprises

The article substantiates the need for ecological modernization as an important component of Russia''s economic modernization. The institutional conditions that exist at present for ecological modernization, the main directions and instruments of environmental modernization, including such as best available techniques and methods to promote their implementation, certification of enterprises, including the international standards ISO 14000, environmental management at the enterprise, waste industry development ect are considered. It is proved that the ecological modernization should become an important part of the strategic development plans of regions and businesses. The results of a pilot survey of experts on the problems of ecological modernization are provided.
