High levels of air pollution in urban areas necessitates the development of more detailed recommendations on the formation of the list of plants with high levels of stability and the main types of gas-absorbing ability for landscaping streets and arrangement of SPZ of the industrial enterprises in Orenburg, which allows better protection of the population. On ability to the gas absorption and gas resistance 50 kinds of trees and shrubs of Orenburg are investigated. They are presented by local and introduced species. The technique of experimental fumigating by sulfur dioxide is applied to define gas resistance and gas-absorbing ability. The analysis of the data on all types of stability allowes to isolate from the list of studied species unstable plants, as well as to develop recommendations for optimum species composition of green space for the organization of sanitary-protection zones of enterprises and other types of shelterbelts.
