Economic security of the region: classification of definitions and influencing factors

The increasing number of challenges and threats that adversely affect the socio-economic situation of the country as a whole and its individual regions, actualizes the task of the most profound and comprehensive study of the economic security of the region and the factors affecting it. The article is aimed at classifying the definitions of the desired concept, highlighting the key components and elements, as well as generalizing the factors affecting the economic security of the region. Based on the use of content analysis, it was determined that in 28 % of publications the basis of the content of the concept is “a complex of factors and conditions”, 21 % - “the state of economic relations”, 19 % - “the ability of the region's economy to function”. It is revealed that most often the goal of ensuring the economic security of the region is to achieve the competitiveness of the territory and the realization of the needs of society. Generalization of factors affecting the economic security of the region showed the predominance in the overall structure of those that characterize the material and demographic components.
