The article deals with the phenomenon of "imposed rationality". The author believes that relativisation of rationality influences consciousness of modern people. Economic rationality acts as an ideal of the capitalism era, where the maximum profit is a value. Spontaneous development of market relations and subsequent expansion of the selfish behaviour boundaries eventually lead to the personal rejection of social constraints, the moral norms cease to play a decisive role for the benefit of the economic efficiency. It is concluded, that under the influence of the economic way of thinking, the reality is transformed into different types of capital, and a person into its maximizer.
