Economic essence and significance of price

The price as a key element in managing the profitability and efficiency of the enterprise's economic activity is considered in the article. It is shown that the dynamics of prices reflects the conjuncture of the commodity market and the patterns of development of the national and regional economy. The main price functions are analyzed, the most important of which is informational. The leading importance of monitoring current and contractual prices for making economically sound management decisions at the micro and macroeconomic levels has been revealed.
