This article highlights the importance of assessing the costs and benefits of job training to determine its impact on organizational performance. The article notes that different levels of evaluation of training investments may lead to different results, but there are some general conclusions based on replicated research evidence. A study by the Australian National Research Center for Vocational Education found that a significant percentage of company employees do not have the necessary competencies to perform their professional responsibilities, which has negative consequences for organizations. However, many employers may find it difficult to conduct a detailed analysis of the return on investment in training due to access to accurate data. The authors of the article draw attention to the market and non-market business benefits of vocational education and retraining for employees in the aerospace industry, and also highlight the difficulties in measuring the potential return on investment in education and assessing its impact on organizational productivity.
