Economic education in Europe: historical experience and modernity

The purpose of this work is to give a comparative informational overview of the modern system of economic education in Western Europe. In his study, the author applied the methods of historical, chronological, problem, method of system analysis. The author touches upon the history and achievements of leading universities in Europe, which provide economic education in the UK, Germany, Austria, Switzerland. Examples of successful people who have received an economic education in Europe, some statistical and geographical data are given, and names of outstanding graduates are called. The author compares the oldest universities with new universities in Europe, names specialties related to economics that are in demand today. As a result of the work, the author comes to the conclusion that the European system of economic education has an unequal character; More significant and attractive for applicants are universities with a medieval history, rich experience in training specialists in this field, as well as those that can present the latest programs, the training programs that are in demand today. The results of the study can be used in pedagogical and sociological research, taken into account when drawing up curricula and programs. The article is addressed to a wide circle of readers, first of all, to university workers.
