The article considers the main economic and theoretical foundations for the formation and development of crowdsourcing as an innovative management technology. The article highlights the relationship of crowdsourcing with such major schools and areas of economic thought as the General theory of project management, institutional and neoinstitutional Economics, and the concept of synergetics in relation to socio-economic processes. The classification of crowdsourcing types by the most significant economic and managerial characteristics is proposed. The features of the manifestation of certain types of crowdsourcing in modern economic conditions are considered.
