The study of the current state of the development of figurative speech of older preschoolers in the process of familiarization with Russian folk tales. Modified methods based on the methodology proposed by O.A. Solomennikova and T.S. Komarova, as well as the author's methods. Reading and analyzing Russian folk tales with older preschool children to develop their imaginative and expressive speech gave positive results.
