Sciatic nerves of 36 adult mongrel dogs were transected and sutured by microsurgical technique for the purpose of revealing the effects of Cerebrolysinum on peripheral nerve regeneration in them. In 13 dogs a course of Cerebrolysinum paraneural injections was made beginning from the 3-rd day after surgery, the remaining ones served for comparison. In the experimental group the severity and duration of neurological deficits decreased. According to EMG data, there was a tendency towards more intensive increment of the amplitude of gastrocnemius muscle M-response and towards earlier emergence of M-responses in the anterior tibial muscle, as well as their less variability in the process of recovery. Cerebrolysinum positive effect has been established on the recovery and maintenance of the structural parameters of regenerating nerve fibers, growing into a distal nerve part.
