Experimental determination of soil shear resistance

The purpose of the study is to determine the ultimate shear resistance of the soil under the influence of (shear) force applied to it. The study of the soil resistance to shear forces resulting from the impact of harvesting machines is meaningful for correct calculations of the skidding trail stability. Studies determining shear resistance of the soil were held in laboratory conditions in October of 2012. The value of the tangential stress under shear in a singular plane was defined with the help of Coulomb law. Correlations obtained in the course of the experiment are facilitative in the soil’s bearing capacity forecasting and calendar scheduling of cutting areas’ development.
