The unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is a complex cyber-physical system. Its research has significant specifics in comparison with other objects of forensic examinations. There are a large number of foreign, homemade, converted and modified drones, that situation leads to a number of problems in making an expertise. Purpose: to consider the expertise of electronic modules of unmanned aerial vehicles. Methods: general scientific (dialectical, systematic, logical, observational, etc.), private scientific (formal legal and sociological). Results: the influence of the design type, weight and size characteristics and the purpose of the UAV on the production of expertise is considered. The range of modules that needs be investigated is analyzed in detail, indicating the information that can be extracted from them. It is indicated that the information flows of an unmanned aerial vehicle consist of three levels and they are organized according to a hierarchical principle. The methods of producing expert studies of electronic components are differentiated into invasive and non-invasive. It is emphasized that the simulation of the operation of electronic modules in the course of the study is carried out not on the original boards, but on virtual copies with verified emulation of the target processor architecture. The objectives and tasks of the electronic modules of unmanned aerial vehicles’ expertise are analyzed. Special attention is paid to the information from logs retrieved from aircraft memory. It is stated that the computer-technical investigation of electronic modules of unmanned aerial vehicles opens up broad prospects for investigating crimes committed with their help, as well as identifying the perpetrators.
