Expert system for integrated assessment of the rehabilitation status in patients having operations on large joints

Based on the existing and author criteria for defining the status of rehabilitation with loco-motor apparatus impairements, an expert system was created for predicting recovery of motor activity by rehabilitation measures. A computer application program Diagnostic Center serves as a prototype expert system. It embodies the experience of experts (trauma, rehabilitation specialists, neurologist, physiotherapist, psychologist, conductive teacher) taking a decision concerning machined function. Shell programs contain mechanisms for adding the information about a patient into the database. The effectiveness of the program has been tested in the process of rehabilitation support of 266 patients with coxofemoral joint impairements in three clinics in the city of Naberezhnye Chelny. The resulting program parameters of the statistical data are the source material while expanding a database in order to transform the program into a fully fledged expert system. Its creation is especially true today in the period of intensive development of health insurance.
