The article describes in detail the problems associated with a process of issuance and formalization of sick certificates for patients directed to health resort treatment. Procedures of formalization and issuance of sick certificates for a period of health resort treatment are regulated by the order of The Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation dated 29.06.2011 № 624n “About approval of the procedures for sick certificates issuance”. However, in practice we often face challenges concerning application of certain order provisions, particularly: when a medical committee of the health resort should make a decision on prolongation and issuance of a sick certificate for patients required additional treatment in specialized health centers immediately after hospital treatment and health resort treatment in tuberculosis health centers? The provisions of the Article 59 of the Federal Law dated 21.11.2011 № 323- FZ “About the basis of health protection in the Russian Federation”, limiting the period of sick certificate prolongation upon the medical committee decision from 30 to 15 calendar days when patients are directed to health resort treatment are also need to be clarified. The author passes his personal opinion on some controversial issues.
