The article is devoted to one of the cognitive classific feature of the archetypical concept LIGHT, that is - explicative one, which allows to objectify some political event, phenomenon or fact, attract the public attention to it and/or give it some interpretation. The subject of analysis is metaphorical ways of the named feature representation, taking place in the modern American political discourse.
