It shows the history of collecting ethnographic material of the Finno-Ugric peoples. The particular attention is paid to the Hungarian scholar Antal Reguly, who collected the earliest exhibits in European collections for the EthnographicMuseum (Budapest, Hungary). It provides the information about the ethnographic material of the Mordovians-Erza and Mordovians-Moksha presented in the Museum.
