By the method of immunoblotting the synthesis of two forms of capsid protein of shallot X-virus in the shallot roots and leaves was investigated. The mechanism of alternative expression of ХВШ capsid protein gene was described. It was shown, that 28K-form is synthesized and taken part in virus formation only in the roots of infected plants, but 37K-form of capsid protein - only in juvenile and mature leaves. It was suggested, that phenomenon of alternative expression of capsid protein of shallot X-virus is due to different mechanisms of viral genome RNA transcription functioning in roots and leaves of infected plants with formation of two different form of subgenome RNA as matrix for synthesis of capsid protein.
