Exterior assessment of the first calving of the Yaroslavl cattle breed in AO “Sheksna”

The article presents the results of the exterior assessment of the Yaroslavl cattle breed of the first calving in AO “Sheksna”. The research novelty lies in the fact that for the first time in this livestock, we have carried out an assessment of the cattle’s exterior and analysis of its results with reference to producing bulls. The study was carried out in AO “Sheksna” on 50 Yaroslavl cattle breed of the first calving in the period from the 30th to the 120th day of lactation in accordance with the “Rules for assessing the physique of the bulls-producers’ daughters of dairy and meat breeds”, approved by the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia. We have made an assessment by a linear method on a 100-point scale. In the course of the work, exterior defects were revealed in first-calf cattle. The daughters of the bull Rhine 353902582 stand out among the rest with the largest fortress (7.3 points). All the livestock has quite pronounced milk forms, except the daughters of the bull-producer Sagittarius 143, as evidenced by their average score on this indicator (4.6). In general, the daughters of the bull Sagittarius 143 received the lowest points: trunk volume is 79.4 with an average of 83.3 points, the severity of milk forms is 80.3 with an average of 83.7 points, legs - 78 with an average of 81.3 points, udder - 76.1 with an average of 81.8 points, total score - 78 with an average of 81.8 points. All the daughters of the bulls Brukviv 11951807 and Regent 9181 revealed such a disadvantage as nipples drawn together from behind. Apparently, bulls carry this gene.
