Electronic document management in pre-trial criminal proceedings: current state and development

Modern approaches to conducting pre-trial proceedings require the use of digital technologies, as well as the latest achievements in science and technology, one of which is the need to use electronic document management in the production of investigative and other procedural actions by preliminary investigation bodies. The article aims to define the concept and procedural position of an electronic document and its use in pre-trial proceedings. In accordance with this goal, tasks have been formed to review the procedural status of an electronic document at the stages of initiating a criminal case and preliminary investigation; to determine the possibility of conducting investigative and other procedural actions using electronic document management. According to the results of the study, the author identified the problems of using electronic document management in pre-trial proceedings, and also suggested ways to solve them. When writing the article, such research methods were used as a systematic analysis of scientific provisions and judicial practice, a logical method in identifying cause-and-effect relationships, theoretical and legal forecasting of further changes in legislation.
