Elements of the Criminalistic Characteristics of Economic Crimes Committed Using Information Technologies

The rapid development of the economy, along with the active introduction of scientific and technological achievements into the life of society, has led to logical consequences – now goods-money relations are carried out using high technologies. The process of computerization and informatization is significant, its consequences are not only constructive and positive, but also negative. The matter concerns criminal acts committed using computer equipment and information technology. Purpose: To analyze the criminalistic characteristics of economic crimes committed using information technologies. In preparing the article, general scientific methods are used: analysis (when considering the subjects of criminal encroachment), synthesis (when forming the criminalistic characteristics of crimes based on its individual elements), induction (when defining the concept of “subject of economic crimes committed using information technologies”), deduction (when studying the crime scene as an element of the criminalistic characteristics), as well as special methods: system-structural (when considering individual elements of the criminalistic characteristics of the crimes under study in their interrelation) and statistical (when considering the state of crime in different periods). Results: The author concludes that the complexity of the functioning of information technologies and the use of computer equipment affects the activities to identify and investigate crimes committed with their use, significantly complicating its implementation.
