Reform pedagogy, which emerged as a reaction to global changes in society at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries, is a trend in pedagogical theory and practice, manifested in various countries of Europe and the United States. Its representatives proclaimed the need for fundamental reform of existing education systems and the implementation of new principles of education and upbringing. One of the bright ideological inspirers of "free education" was the Swedish humanist teacher, publicist and literary critic, leader of the women's movement, thinker and public figure Ellen Kay.
