Hellenistic philosophy as understood by Tatian the Assyrian

In this article, the author considers the main provisions of the Syrian apologist Tatian in relation to the ancient world-view of pagan philosophy, as well as a number of critical remarks of modern researchers on this subject. Te fact is that in works on church history, the apologist Tatian is considered to be an active opponent of Greek pagan culture and civilization, including of art, science, language, and philosophy. Te author atempts to analyze the critical atitude and sarcasm of the apologist with respect to pagan philosophy, and, as far as it is possible, to show that Tatian is still dependent in his Speeches Against the Hellenes on ancient philosophy
