Conflicts are an integral part of family relations, they arise at different stages of the marital relationship and their occurrence is determined by many factors - social status, family composition, age of family members, their individual characteristics. The well-being of the marital relationship largely depends on the ability to understand their own and others emotions, and manage them. Emotional intelligence affects the marital satisfaction and the behavior of the spouses in the conflict, which this article examines, through the choice of strategy: collaboration, avoidance, competition, adaptation and compromise, through the model of EVLN ("the Exit-Voice-Loyalty-Neglect", "Exit-Voice-Loyalty-Neglect"). The article discusses gender peculiarities of behavior of the spouses in the conflict depending on their level of development of emotional intelligence and evaluation of their behavior with each other.
